Connaught Road, and Mill Road Cemeteries

At the edge of Thiepval Wood - Connaught Road Cemetery showing the Cross of Remembrance

View from Connaught Road Cemetery looking north.

In the distance, at the top of the slope, is Mill Road Cemetery.

It was up this hill that men of the Ulster Division attacked the Schwaben Redoubt on 1st July, 1916.

Mill Road Cemetery.

The headstones here have to be laid flat because of subsidence caused by the old dug-outs and tunnels of the Schwaben Redoubt beneath.
